About the Department:

 

 Mathematics is the study of numbers, structures, relations and patterns. The word ‘Mathematics’ comes from the Greek word “μáθημa” (mathema), meaning ‘science, knowledge or learning’. It is a powerful scientific tool for global understanding and communication. Using mathematics one can solve the real world complex problems in very easiest way  and make the prediction of future scenario. Today, mathematics is used throughout the whole world as an essential tool in large number of fields like as medical science, engineering, economics, psychology etc. According to Hogben- ‘Mathematics is the mirror of civilization’.

The department of Mathematics in Hiralal Bhakat College started its journey from the Year 2018 under The University of Burdwan.  At present, the department offers General Course with B.Sc. Degree only. The department suggests honour course of B.Sc. Degree in future for developing human resources of a community. The final semester-end results of University examinations are encouraging.  Teachers of this department have the distinction of working research activities. There is a very good cordial relation between the students and teachers. Teachers and students participate in the sports and cultural programmes organised by the College.

 Goals and Objectives of the Department:

The department of mathematics in Hiralal Bhakat College started its journey for applying the knowledge with the development of human resource. This department has following goals and objectives:

 

  • To create awareness for mathematics and its applications among general students and people.

 • To create capability for solving problems in easiest and lucid manner. 

 • To develop human resource for teaching mathematics in schools.
