NSS Departmental message:

National Service Scheme H.B.C is an initiative institutionalised under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. Of India and supervised by the University of Burdwan, W.B. with a vision to instill concept of nation building in the students through a diverse range of events and projects. According to the actual sense of the term NSS aims at indulging the students or volunteers  in “Man-making and Character-building” process  professed by Swami Vivekananda through plethora of  activities ranging from NSS membership drive, blood donation camp, tree plantation programme, eye-camp, health camp to adaptation of village and other out-reach programmes. NSS H.B.C has a volunteer base of around 300 students belonging to various disciplines of H.B.C with the three units under three Programme Officers. Needless to say that such activities of the NSS units are striving towards the benefit of people in and around H.B.C. Complying with the motto of NSS ‘Not Me, But You’ volunteers are participating in huge numbers in special camps and other activities with a view to developing the sense of social and civic responsibilities, to understanding the needs and necessities of the local people with whom they are working. In such a way, a bonding has been grown up among the students and between the volunteers and the people of local community. In consequence, NSS H.B.C upraises social harmony and strengthens national integration.
