DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

 

Welcome to the Department of History of Hiralal Bhakat College, Nalhati.  We are thoroughly committed to infuse a love for History among our students and  to work relentlessly in broadening their understanding of the past. Our main aim is not only to stimulate our students’ academic interest in the subject but also to make them intrigued and fascinated by the way History illuminates the past and creates a brighter future for the human society as a whole through struggles, trials and tribulations. We inspire them to think , to theorize and to ask questions  persistently so that they can interpret the past and offer inspirations for the future.

 Our department has a very significant presence in the undergraduate education system of the college and it can be seen in the prominence of our honours students as well as by strong presence of History in general education. The department boasts of a vibrant intellectual community of teachers, students and alumni who regularly participate in various academic and cultural  activities within college and beyond. More generally we also tirelessly strive to equip our students for the evolving job market and make them evolve into responsible members of our democratic society.
